Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy

When injury or trauma occurs, your body attempts to repair the injured area. Platelets play a large role in this process. They contain growth factors that work to reduce inflammation and repair damage helping with unresolved inflammation and pain.

Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy (PRP) utilizes your own blood’s growth factors to repair damage tissues. A simple blood draw will be performed. This blood is then spun down in a centrifuge to separate the platelets from the other blood components. Under ultrasound or X-ray guidance the concentrated platelets are injected into the injured area. Repair will begin immediately but it may take up to 6 weeks to feel a reduction in pain.
