Intercostal Nerve Blocks
Intercostal nerves are located under each rib. These nerves can get irritated or damaged and cause pain. This pain is usually located in the mid back and will radiate around the side and into the chest or abdomen.
An intercostal nerve block is an injection of local anesthetic and steroid performed under fluoroscopic (X-ray) guidance. This injection helps to reduce inflammation and alleviate the pain caused by these nerves.
